The National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention brings together the most dynamic and diverse organizations in cardiovascular health, providing a forum and outlet for organizations to amplify their voices. Our members currently represent more than 80 national and international organizations from the public and private healthcare organizations, as well as faith, advocacy, academic, and policy settings. The National Forum is a tax exempt, independent non-profit, 501(c)(3), voluntary health organization.
Who Are Our Members
Our members range from major national health-advocacy organizations to government health agencies to private companies invested in cardiovascular health. As a result, we have a multi-faceted approach to addressing public-health issues that maximizes both reach and impact. Our members include:
Our Vision and Mission
Vision: To harness the power of collaboration to prevent heart disease and stroke.
Mission: To lead and encourage collaborative action among stakeholders committed to heart disease and stroke prevention
To achieve our mission and vision, the National Forum focuses on advancing health equity and the implementation of the ABCS (appropriate Aspirin Use, Blood pressure, Cholesterol control, and Smoking cessation) to prevent heart disease and stroke. We define health equity as "attainment of the highest level of health for all people" and recognize that achieving health equity requires valuing everyone equally with focused and ongoing societal efforts to address avoidable inequalities, historical and contemporary injustices, and the elimination of health and health care disparities.
As a member of the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention, our members have the opportunity to work with us, our members and our partners to advance solutions that improve heart health at the community, state and national levels. More specifically, our members can work with us to:
- Serve as a complementary player to develop and lead initiatives targeted at specific cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors.
- Amplify and enhance the impact of their heart-healthy programs, practices and policies.
Members of the National Forum have shaped and continue to shape the Stronger Hearts Helpline, our World Heart Day Challenge and our Cholesterol Initiative. Our members may also have the opportunity to enhance our upcoming medication adherence initiative with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which will be the first of its kind for the agency.
National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention membership is comprised of two member categories: Organizational Members and Individual Members. To become a member for either membership, parties must complete a membership application form. Once submitted, the Governance Committee will review the applications and make recommendations to our Board of Directors for confirmation.
Organizational membership provides organizations with the ability to help implement, expand and champion National Forum projects that address heart disease and stroke prevention. It also provides an outlet for organizations to showcase their resources to other members and National Forum partners and provides them with the ability to view the resources we and/or our members create.
Individual membership provides individuals the opportunity to provide expertise and support and to participate in National Forum projects that address heart disease and stroke prevention.
