Huge Opportunity to Prevent Heart Attacks and Strokes

Half of patients diagnosed with hypertension do not follow their provider's treatment advice. Closing this gap will prevent heart attacks, strokes and premature deaths.

A new video from the Million Hearts® initiative and CDC reminds clinicians about the consequences of non-adherence and how they can help improve their patients’ adherence.  Million Hearts® has a tip sheet for providers on improving medication adherence.

A small increase in medication adherence can save lives and prevent costly cardiovascular events.  That’s why improving adherence is a priority for the National Forum, Million Hearts®, CDC, FDA and many of our members.

A recent Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) article from the FDA and National Forum outlines how new technology and collaborative research can impact adherence rates.

Check out the new video, tip sheet and article and share them with your colleagues, members and stakeholders.  Visit MillionHearts.hhs.gov to download free treatment protocols, action guides, and other resources to help patients take their medications as directed.
