Increase awareness and utilization of guides among healthcare providers (PCPs, lipid specialists, pharmacists), professional associations, patient advocacy groups) to promote shared decision-making in statin treatment planning.

In shared decision-making, healthcare providers and patients work together to make the best possible healthcare decisions. Developed by the National Forum’s Value & Access Collaboration, four guides are available for healthcare providers and patients to engage in shared decision-making using the SHARED approach.

Topics include:

• • Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) prevention and treatment
  • Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH)
  • Statin treatment planning
  • Statin and other cholesterol-lowering therapy

Content includes sample questions and talking points providers can use to discuss treatment planning with patients, a fillable treatment planning form, and a patient education handout.
