This American Pharmacists Month, the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention is recognizing the pharmacists bringing their expertise to the 2026–2027 Move with the Mayor® flu immunization campaign. Through public service announcements (PSAs) with local mayors, pharmacists are encouraging residents to learn more and bring their questions to a pharmacist or another healthcare professional.
Bringing pharmacy expertise into the community
Through the “What’s Your Reason?” campaign, pharmacists are teaming up with 10 mayors across the country to connect flu prevention with heart health.
Thank you to the pharmacists contributing their time and expertise to this season’s campaign:
- Enizabeth Perez-Andujar, PharmD — Kroger, Atlanta, Georgia
- Chanelle Felix De Jesus, PharmD, MBA — Safeway, Auburn, Washington
- Kelly Ferris, PharmD — Walgreens, Chattanooga, Tennessee
- Rachel Schneider, PharmD, MS — Kroger, Cincinnati, Ohio
- Amanda Hody, PharmD — Walmart, Elyria, Ohio
- Emmanuel Antwi Boasiako, PharmD — CVS, Fairburn, Georgia
- Ashley Sawyer-Hill, PharmD — Walgreens, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
- Lauren Towley-Fuls, PharmD — Albertsons, Gresham, Oregon
- Tom Stanford, RPh — Walmart, Harrisburg, Illinois
- Jody Sheppard, PharmD, RPh — CVS, Schenectady, New York
The PSAs give residents a starting point for learning more. A conversation with a pharmacist offers an opportunity to get answers to their questions, discuss health history, and explore vaccine options.
Making room for residents’ questions
Explaining a recommendation is one part of the conversation. Understanding what matters to residents is another.
To support those conversations, the National Forum, in collaboration with the American Pharmacists Association Foundation, developed the Flu Immunization SHARED Decision-Making Guide. It gives pharmacists and other healthcare professionals practical tools to explain options and explore what matters to each resident.
The guide includes:
- Sample talking points to explain flu immunization and vaccine options in plain language.
- Open-ended questions to explore residents’ concerns, what they already know, and what matters to them.
- A worksheet to guide conversations about vaccine options based on age and health history and help patients weigh benefits, risks, and other considerations.
The guide also helps healthcare professionals plan follow-up conversations when residents need more time or have additional questions.

Extending pharmacists’ messages
Mayors, healthcare organizations, and community partners can help bring these messages to more residents throughout flu season:
- Share the mayor-pharmacist PSAs through social media, newsletters, and community presentations.
- Use the campaign’s fact sheet, captions, and graphics to keep flu prevention and heart health in local communications.
- Share the SHARED Decision-Making Guide with healthcare professionals to support conversations regarding flu prevention.
This American Pharmacists Month, we thank the participating pharmacists for lending their time and expertise to Move with the Mayor® and helping their communities learn more about flu immunization.
