One proven way to prevent cardiovascular disease and diabetes is to involve Community Health Workers (CHWs) in care giving. On Wednesday, September 20, partners gathered to learn more about engaging CHWs to improve health. The evidence is strong. The Community Guide—the Gold Standard for evidence-based approaches to prevent disease and injury in populations—has several findings and recommendations for using CHWs to:
- Prevent cardiovascular disease
- Prevent and control diabetes
- Enhance health equity
- Save money
