Convening 1 – March 12, 2026 Meeting Proceedings

The March 12, 2026, meeting proceedings are now available online and are listed individually below. Meeting recordings, transcripts, takeaways, and resources will be posted soon.

The National Forum convened leaders from across sectors—academia, healthcare, public health, patient advocacy, policymaking, and industry—to explore proven strategies. The meeting shined a light on the urgency around the silent epidemic of cardiorenal metabolic syndrome. The convening goal is to produce a Call to Action focused on high-impact steps to close large, persistent deficits in urine albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR) testing and follow-up.

Convening II – May 12, 2026 Meeting Proceedings

Program Book- Agenda, Resources, Speaker Biographies

Convening II built on the momentum of our March 12 convening, bringing partners back together to accelerate progress on the Heart–Kidney Call to Action. Participants shared early actions, highlighted emerging collaborations, and explored practical strategies to better identify and address the often-overlooked connection between cardiovascular and kidney disease.

The convening featured updates from leading organizations, real-world examples of implementation, and perspectives from clinical, community, and policy leaders working to integrate care and improve outcomes. Through expert insights, state-level innovations, and interdisciplinary approaches—including pharmacy-based screening—the session emphasized moving from awareness to action. In the days following the event, recordings, transcripts, slides, Q&A, and chat notes were shared to support continued engagement.

Signing the Call to Action was highlighted as an important step for organizations to:

  • Signal a commitment to closing the gap between the large number of people at high risk for kidney disease and the far smaller number who are screened, diagnosed, and treated
  • Add their voice to the growing national call to improve early diagnosis and treatment for people with heart and kidney disease
  • Create opportunities to align efforts with others and amplify collective impact

A Commitment Packet will be put together to support review and consideration. It will include an executive summary, Board briefing materials, a clear overview of the commitment, a flexible menu of actions, and ready-to-use tools—such as a sample Board resolution, communications resources, and a simple sign-on process—designed to make participation straightforward and impactful.

We were especially grateful to the organizations already leading and advancing this effort. We also recognized the importance of engaging additional clinical and professional organizations, and others whose leadership is essential to advancing equitable care and outcomes. We were encouraged by the growing momentum as we move toward coordinated national action.

An interactive discussion and open forum provided participants with space to exchange ideas, share commitments, and identify opportunities for alignment. The session concluded with a focus on next steps—mobilizing stakeholders and strengthening collective efforts to advance prevention, early detection, and coordinated care for cardio-renal health.

For those who did not attend the first meeting, materials were made available to help prepare for future engagement.
