Childress Elected to United States Conference of Mayors Business Council Steering Committee

Posted on 08.21.24

The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) has elected Jen Childress, MS, MCHES, director of programs for the National Forum for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, to its Business Council Steering Committee for a three-year term.

The business council provides members with opportunities to shape the future of cities nationwide. Through the active participation of council members, USCM continues to expand national and international business opportunities for member mayors. The Mayors Business Council is an in-depth, exclusive forum for mayors and representatives from the private sector to share research, policy analysis, and marketplace trends to identify innovative approaches to the myriad of difficulties and opportunities cities face today.

“I am honored to have been selected for this role and look forward to working with the steering committee to bring value to new and existing members,” said Childress. “I have had such a positive experience over the past four years being involved in the business council, resulting in meaningful relationships, sharing of best practices, and win-win linkages. I am excited to help other USCM members gain the same experience and benefits.”

As director of programs for the National Forum, Childress manages the Forum’s Move with the Mayor® initiatives. This includes collaborating with mayors and other local leaders to implement programs and policies promoting healthy lifestyles, create supportive environments, and improve access to quality healthcare.

“We are thrilled to have Jen represent the National Forum on this prestigious committee,” said John Clymer, executive director of the National Forum. “Her expertise and dedication to improving community health will be valuable in guiding the work of USCM’s business council.”

As a member of the steering committee, Childress joins 14 other leaders representing various industries.
