MWTM Fall Newsletter – October 16, 2023 – Final Numbers

Posted on 10.16.23

Thank you to all the cities for joining us for the Move with the Mayor® (MWTM) Fall Challenge! By doing so, you helped your city develop healthy habits that will improve their lives!

50+ MWTM cities committed to the Fall Challenge this year! Despite the shorter than usual challenge period, our cities hosted 36 events and there are more planned throughout the fall! And, nearly 100 cities participated in the SparkAmerica Fall Fit City Challenge nationwide!

Several cities are continuing to host events throughout the year and we are here to support and amplify your efforts. Check out the MWTM communications toolkits, featuring sample social media and graphics that you can use to help boost heart health year-round.

City Highlights

Kudos to Mayor Quentin Hart (Waterloo, IA) for hosting an annual walk; Mayor Kayce Munyeneh (Cheverly, MD), for walking multiple miles within the city; Mayor Romero, Henderson, NV, for launching a Heritage Harvest Festival and creating accessible opportunities for physical activity for all residents; Mayor Sherlin, Athens, TN for leading a walk at the Health Triangle in honor of World Heart Day; Mayor Lori Bagwell, Carson City, NV for hosting an annual cemetery clean-up; and Mayor Kim Norton, Rochester, MN for celebrating Walk to School Day with the kids of Ben Franklin School.

If your city is still hosting events, we would like to highlight your efforts. Please remember to use the hashtag #MovewiththeMayor and tag the National Forum (X: NatForumHDSP, Facebook: The National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention, Instagram: national_forum_ ) or email me about your event/partnerships and your photos.
