MWTM Spring Newsletter
May 12th, 2023
The Spring Challenge has been full of different events. We’re especially excited for May, as it is Bike Month, Hypertension Awareness, Stroke Awareness, and Mental Health Month. We’ve been trying to keep up with all your posts and events. Keep up the great work!
Walking Badges
Walking badges were first featured by Mayor Norton in Rochester, MN. They’re used to show people that you can opt to make a sedentary meeting into an active one by taking a walk while tackling meeting topics. Use walking badges for your next meeting! You can print the badges onto business cards, and they can be placed into a badge holder. Take a picture and post on social media using the #MovewiththeMayor hashtag so we can amplify your efforts!
City Highlights
We’re cheering everyone on! Check out Mayor Goczkowski walking his kids to school in Des Plaines, IL in honor of National Bike & Roll to School Day; Mayor Mills lacing up to spread the word about his upcoming walk around a Brighton, CO park; Mayor Muryn and her litter clean-up event in Findlay, OH; Mayor Balensifer for hosting his first event, a rain-drizzled 4.5 mile walk around Warrenton, OR; Mayor Alexander and the Salisbury, NC City Council for their partnership in hosting an event with the Salisbury Dancing Queens; and to Mayor Sherlin for promoting an upcoming walk in Athens, TN!
If you would like to be highlighted, please remember to use the hashtag #MovewiththeMayor or email me about your event/partnerships and your photos.
