Today, on behalf of the National Forum Executive Director John Clymer presented comments to the Food and Drug Administration Listening Session on Proposed Regulations to Establish Tobacco Product Standards for Menthol in Cigarettes and Characterizing Flavors in Cigars. Clymer urged the FDA to “act swiftly to issue this lifesaving rule in final form.” He highlighted smoking as a cause of hypertension and a risk factor for multiple types of cardiovascular disease. “Prohibiting menthol cigarettes and cigars would decrease tobacco-related health disparities and advance health equity,” he said.
