The National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in support of the proposed Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Monitoring and Management measure.
The comments urge CMS to finalize the measure in Traditional MIPS and include it in the Advancing Care for Heart Disease MIPS Value Pathway. The National Forum also encourages CMS to consider adding the measure to the Universal Foundation and to continue developing quality initiatives that support comprehensive dyslipidemia management and cardiovascular disease prevention.
The measure would focus on whether LDL-C is monitored and managed for adults with clinical atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This approach can help align quality measurement with evidence-based care, cardiovascular risk reduction, and outcomes that matter to patients.
