Protect Access to Phosphate-Lowering Therapies

Posted on 12.12.25

The American Pharmacists Association, Association of Black Cardiologists, and National Medical Association joined the National Forum in urging New York Gov. Hochul to pause the state’s plan to shift all oral-only phosphate-lowering therapies to the Medicaid Ambulatory Patient Group bundled payment model on January 1, 2026.

We are concerned that the pending change would reduce dialysis patients’ access to crucial therapies, with harms falling disproportionately on people in underserved populations.

Read our letter detailing our concerns and the case for pausing this action.
