FH Optimal Care in the US (FOCUS) Real-World Data Analysis Report – 2018 – The FH Foundation’s FOCUS Report quantifies gaps in diagnosis and treatment, and the unfortunate corresponding cardiovascular event rates in individuals with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH). The FOCUS Report leverages a national healthcare database built by the FH Foundation that includes healthcare encounter data on over 272 million individuals in the United States being treated, or evaluated for, cardiovascular disease. All data is anonymous at the individual level.

ABC Prior Authorization Resource Kits The Prior Authorization Work Group for the ABC Access to Care initiative has developed resources to help cardiology practices better respond to the administrative needs of the current prior authorization process and improve patient access to appropriate, evidence-based therapies. These Resource Kits have been uniquely designed for cardiology practices working with underserved minority patients. The Resource Kits have also been constructed to serve physicians, nurses, and other staff members that interact with PA.

Cardiologist’s Perceptions of Access to New Therapies 2016 survey (ACC)Revealed that implementing new therapies is a problem, requiring more professional time due to administrative barriers; The top two barriers to trying new therapies are a) cost and b) prior authorization documentation; Cardiologists feel very favorably about prescribing new medications. And, cardiologists would be much more likely to prescribe appropriate new therapies if they did not experience delays/denials.
